What is Rotaract?
Rotaract is an international organisation of service clubs for men and women aged 18-30 that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship, encourages high ethical standards in all professions, and promotes international understanding and peace.  Rotaract provides an opportunity for the youth to enhance their personal development, address the physical and social needs of their communities, and promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service. A fundamental member of Rotary International, Rotaract is a combination of “Rotary” and “Action.”

The Rotaract Club of Nairobi Central (RCNC) was formed in the 1977-78 Rotary year and is one of the oldest Rotaract clubs in Kenya.  Since its inception, the Club has been very active and has three times been recognsied as the Best Rotaract Club in District 9200! comprising Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Our sponsoring club is the Rotary Club of Nairobi which was founded in 1930.

The Club basically revolves around four main activities or Avenues of Service, which are run by committees headed by a director:

Professional Development career enhancement ...

Community Service - assisting society and the community around us ...

International Service build international understanding & peace ...

Club Service club management ...

Requirements for Membership
Technically, a prospective member must attend 3 consecutive meetings and participate in at least 2 projects (over the same period of time, and one of which must be a community service project). But the bottom line is that we need self-driven, community-conscious young people who are willing to give their time and energy for a valuable and worthy cause they believe in. There is an annual membership fee of KShs. 1,000/=

The 4-Way Test...
The four-way test is a statement of an ideal that members of the Rotary fraternity are encouraged to apply in their lives, both business and personal.

....Of the things we think, say or do:

  • Is it the truth?
  • Is it fair to all concerned?
  • Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  • Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
